Event: ADAS Rosemaund Open Day Location: Burnt House Grain Store, Gatsford, Ross-on-Wye, HR9 7QW Date and time: Tuesday, 19th June, 12-4 pm Demonstrations: Wheat and barley disease control and fungicide performance Oilseed rape disease control and fungicide performance Herbicide options and weed identification Wheat and OSR varieties New guidelines for application of chlorpyrifos Sulphur requirements for OSR Cross-compliance drop-in clinic Nitrogen management in cereals The ADAS Rosemaund Open Day is a self-guided tour around plots of oilseed rape and wheat research projects funded by defra, HGCA and commercial companies. At each stop there will be an ADAS expert talking through a number of topics. In oilseed rape, Dr. Faye Ritchie and Julie Smith will be talking about OSR fungicide performance, verticillium wilt control and sclerotinia control, and Dr. Sarah Cook will be talking about weed control. In wheat, Jonathan Blake and Phil Bounds will be talking about wheat and barley fungicide performance and varieties, Dr. Sarah Clarke will be talking about nitrogen management including precision N applications and the importance of soil N status, Dr. Tom Pope will be talking about orange wheat blossom midge control and the say no to drift: chlorpyrifos stewardship campaign. There will also be industry representatives present (around 10 demonstrations), talking about oilseed rape and wheat varieties, fungicides, herbicides and Sulphur management. There will also be two drop-in clinics for farmers to attend – a weed identification clinic and a cross-compliance clinic run by the farming advice service. Generally, most attendees take around 3 hours to take the open day tour.
